While speculation mounts as to who former Bradford City man Craig Bentham will sign for, Neil Parsley, manager of Blue Square North club Farsley Celtic, has confirmed that he has left Throstle Nest but another player has flown in.
Parsley said: “Craig is no longer with us due to the financial situation. He has been training with other clubs and I understand he has made a few pre-season appearances. Whoever he signs for will be getting a very good player.”
The player coming in this week is centre back Josh Radcliffe, who played in the Celts’ first pre-season friendly against FC Halifax Town.
Parsley had intended to see him in a second game before making the 19-year-old former York City defender an offer but tabled a deal before their second warm-up game against Leeds United tonight.
Parsley added: “I anticipate more signings before the start of the season but we are still giving games to trialists at the moment.
"Simeon Bambrook and Mark Jackson have an obligation to everyone who has done the full pre-season training with them, so there are still decisions to be made.”
Bambrook returned to the Nest in the summer recess to take up a role as a player-coach. In fact, he and Jackson are jointly titled assistant-manager-first- team coach.
Parsley wants them both helping but also playing, so does not want to place too much workload on their collective shoulders.
