Two in at Alty
24 September 2009 11:24:00

Altrincham have made two emergency-loan signings in striker Aaron Burns from Northwich Victoria and midfielder Sam Sheridan from Barclays Premier League side Bolton Wanderers.

In October 2007, Alty boss Graham Heathcote had tried to sign Burns, 21, a former Manchester United trainee, and the club even obtained international clearance for him - only to find that the FA would not allow him to sign for the Robins until January 2008 as they deemed him to be of `amateur` status and therefore ineligible to join a Blue Square Premier side till the transfer window reopened.

Instead Burns (pictured) went off to FC United of Manchester who, being lower down the Pyramid, were allowed to sign him.

He then moved on to Vics on an eighteen-month deal.

Sheridan, 19, is a midfielder who has captained Bolton's reserves and has played for Ireland under-19s.

Like Burns, he has played against Alty previously, being in the Wanderers' squad for a friendly at Moss Lane in 2006.

These latest signings come after last month's loan signings of Scott Moffatt (from Manchester United) and Danny Edwards (from Port Vale), who got injured in their first and second games respectively and have not figured since.
