Now Crawley Bring in Whites` Winger
22 July 2010 18:18:00

Blue Square Bet Premier club Crawley Town have announced that young exciting winger Chris Flood has joined the Reds for a fee of £10,000 from Zamaretto League Premier Division Salisbury City.

The former Queens Park Rangers youngster completed the formal documentation and medical at The Broadfield Stadium.

Flood, 21, then trained with the remainder of the Reds` squad as they prepare for the visit of Premiership Champions Chelsea who come to The Broadfield on Saturday afternoon.

The player has interested manager Steve Evans for some time and the manager is delighted to have finally secured the sought after flying winger.

The player had a number of clubs competing for his signature but he is now a Red. Manager Steve Evans said; “Floody is a young talented lad and we are delighted to have secured his signature especially given the interest in him from other clubs.

“He is young and has outstanding pace, that will always give defenders he faces a problem. He is a different type of player to what we have in the squad and he will give us further options. I have no doubt he will play a big part in the season ahead, I am sure of that.”

The player spoke post his first training session with the Reds, saying: “I am just pleased to be finally here. I was told of Steve Evans` interest a few weeks ago and I just kept my fingers crossed that something would happen.

“I know Matt Tubbs from our time together at Salisbury City and I am looking forward to perhaps creating a few chances again for him and the others we have in the squad. I also like to get on the score sheet myself - this is a real opportunity for me to be joining such an ambitious club.”
