Matthew Barnes-Homer – on as a 54th minute substitute - inspired Luton Town to a crucial 1-0 victory and ended Stevenage Borough`s unbeaten home record at Broadhall Way on Saturday.
In front of a superb crowd of 7,024, Barnes-Homer curled a left-footed effort beyond Chris Day within a minute of his introduction as the Hatters cut the gap on the leaders to two points.
Stevenage, who saw Tim Sills` denied a goal by the offside flag, were wasteful in attack but remain in pole position for promotion to the Football League.
Luton started brightly and could have cruised into a two-goal lead, but Craddock`s header was saved by Day before Michael Bostwick`s goalline clearance denied George Pilkington.
Mark Tyler produced heroics in the Luton goal to keep out Chris Beardsley within 5 minutes of the restart before Barnes-Homer hit the decisive goal.
Sills, Charlie Griffin and Mark Roberts all wasted chances to level as the Hatters held on.
AFC Wimbledon recorded a comfortable win at the Glassworld Stadium against Histon to keep their faint play-off hopes alive.
Glenn Poole finished Danny Kedwell's cross from six yards out to give the visitors the lead after half-an-hour.
Sam Hatton doubled their advantage from just inside the area on 36 minutes, with Kedwell adding the third from close range 8 minutes after half time.
A Ben Judge own goal reduced the arrears in the 54th minute, before Kedwell and Charlie Sheringham wasted further chances for the Dons.
Grays Athletic were relegated after a dour draw with Kettering Town at the New Rec.
It was a game devoid of any sort of quality and a point wasn't enough to save the home side from the drop that had been coming for some weeks.
Player-manager Lee Harper made a playing return for the Poppies as first-choice goalkeeper Nathan Abbey didn't make the trip to Essex.
But even with their manager on the pitch, it didn't really inspire Kettering during a poor first half.
They came closest to opening the scoring after 5 minutes when James Jennings' powerful free kick was tipped onto the underside of the bar by Glyn Garner.
That was as good as it got in the opening period as both sides lacked quality.
Jean-Paul Marna was denied by a last-ditch tackle from Duran Reynolds while Grays' best effort came from Joseph Bayowa who volleyed wide.
Things didn't improve after the break - in fact it somehow got worse.
The closest anyone came to getting a goal was in stoppage time when Bayowa saw his effort cleared off the line by Jordan Hadfield.
James Dance sent a couple of efforts wide for the Poppies but it was poor stuff from both sides and the game got the result it deserved.
Chris Denham scored twice as Altrincham beat Kidderminster Harriers to leap-frog them in the table.
Robbie Matthew headed in a Chris McPhee cross to give the visitors a 15th minute lead but Denham slotted home to make it 1-1 after 26 minutes.
Denham headed in an Adam Carden cross to give the home side the advantage just before the break but Matthews nodded in from a Dean Bennett cross to equalise almost immediately.
Four minutes into the second half Greg Young scored what proved to be the winner for Alty when he was allowed space to fire the ball home from 12 yards.
A Daryl Clare double continued Gateshead's recent good home form and was enough to beat Cambridge United and aid the Tynesiders` battle against relegation.
Clare struck his first after 38 minutes from the edge of the area after an Andy Ferrell pass and he made it two by converting a penalty 8 minutes from time after a Rory McAuley handball.
But Gateshead could have been a goal down inside 2 minutes had United's Danny Crow scored from 18 yards out. And the visitors missed further opportunities to open the scoring through Rory McAuley and Simon Russell.
Cambridge could have equalised in the second half through Antonio Murray, Aiden Palmer and Russell, but could not beat Paul Farman in the Gateshead goal.
Mansfield Town lost their first game in four league matches with a 1-0 defeat to Wrexham at Field Mill.
The Reds move back into the top half of the table with the victory, while Mansfield remain eighth.
The critical moment came just before half time, as midfielder Mark Jones scored a left-footed effort from 12 yards.
Mansfield tried to get themselves back into the game after the break, but failed to muster a shot on target despite their best efforts.
Goalmouth action was at a premium in the closing stages as Wrexham closed out on a first away day success in six outings.
Tamworth boosted their survival hopes with a vital victory over fellow strugglers Barrow at The Lamb.
The Lambs had not won in six matches but went ahead right on half time when Aaron Mitchell finished Jake Sheridan's left-wing cross from close range.
Number two came 31 seconds after the interval when Sheridan fired a fine shot into the top corner from 25 yards.
And Iyseden Christie headed a third 12 minutes from time to seal a win which ensures Tamworth stay out of the drop zone.
Despite the result both sides still remain in the thick of the relegation battle.
Luke Rooney scored the only goal as Eastbourne Borough leapfrogged Forest Green Rovers to move out of the relegation zone.
Neither goalkeeper was tested much in a near chanceless first period. But Rooney gave the home side the lead 6 minutes after half time when he struck from just inside the area.
The visitors pushed for an equaliser and went close when Daniel Powell hit the bar but Boro held on to drop Rovers into the bottom three.
