With leaders Oxford United and second-placed Stevenage Borough without games, York City had the chance to close the gap at the top on Saturday.

However, Liam Enver-Marum scored the only goal as Eastbourne Borough stunned the Minstermen, ending their ten-month unbeaten home record in the process.

The ten-goal striker beat defenders Luke Graham and James Meredith and fired home at Michael Ingham's near post.

The goal came against the run of play, although City had failed to create many clear-cut chances beforehand.

Richard Paquette had chances to level, but volleyed against the crossbar and fired across goal late on.

City's last home defeat came on 11 April 2009, a 2-1 reverse against Northwich, and Boro had won just two of their away games in the league this season.

The victory moves Boro two points clear of the relegation zone and leaves York nine points behind leaders Oxford United, having played a game more.

Play-off rivals Rushden & Diamonds and Kettering Town shared the points in a goalless draw on derby day in front of a crowd of just under 3,000 at Nene Park.

Aaron O'Connor came closest to breaking the stalemate just before the hour mark but the home striker`s 12-yard shot struck a post.

Diamonds had the better chances with Lee Tomlin twice going close from the edge of the box early on.

Tomlin forced Nathan Abbey into a parrying save after 20 minutes before the visiting keeper denied his former club again soon afterwards by pushing Tomlin`s curling free kick past a post.

Kwesi Appiah`s shot which flew wide was Kettering`s best opportunity of the first half.

The hosts survived a scare early in the second half when ex-Diamond John Dempster headed another, Marcus Kelly`s cross just wide.

O`Connor then struck the post before James Dance threatened twice is as many minutes for the Poppies. His first shot flashed just wide while his second effort stung the palms of home keeper Dale Roberts.

Tomlin threatened again late on but once more missed the target as their A6 neighbours took a point a piece.

Ben Smith hit two goals to keep Crawley Town's outside play-off hopes alive as they beat fellow contenders Luton Town at the Broadfield Stadium.

Matt Barnes-Homer's first goal in two months looked to have rescued a point for the Hatters when he smashed home fellow sub Liam Hatch's low cross. But Smith, who had put Crawley ahead with a well-taken shot from just inside the box, his first goal in three months, was to add a second.

The Crawley midfielder headed in from close range with 3 minutes left.

That stretched in-form Crawley's run to twenty points out of the last twenty-seven in a nine-game league run that has seen them lose just once.

The thousand-plus travelling Hatters following made up more than half the gate. But Luton, who had not even conceded an away league goal since October, suffered their first defeat on their travels in the league since losing at Wrexham in September.

Mansfield Town snatched a vital point in the race for the play-offs as Gary Silk scored in the final minute to earn a 1-1 draw at Church Road against Hayes & Yeading United.

The home side, who have now stretched their unbeaten run to four games, looked on course for victory until Silk found space in the box as the game was moving into injury-time and fired a low shot into the corner of the goal.

Hayes had taken the lead after 42 minutes when Dale Binns received a pass from Steve Basham on the edge of the area and the midfielder managed to find enough space to slot the ball into the far left-hand corner.

In game of few chances Mansfield's Andy Nicholas had an opportunity to equalise but his 20-yard effort flew just over on the hour-mark.

Kidderminster Harriers stretched their unbeaten run under new boss Steve Burr to eight games as they strolled to a comfortable home win against Histon at Aggborough.

Brian Smikle put the Harriers ahead from close range inside 4 minutes.

And two goals in 3 second half minutes sealed the points, a 12-yard volley from John Finnigan, who then set up Darryl Knights to smash the third.

Harriers' fourth straight home league win moves them to within seven points of the play-off zone.

Ten-man Grays Athletic`s winless run extended to thirteen matches, but they battled to earn a point in a 1-1 draw with Altrincham at Moss Lane.

Grays started the better of the two sides and they nearly took a shock lead when Duran Reynolds latched onto Jordan Wilson's corner to rattle the crossbar.

The warning brought Altrincham into life and Chris Denham tested the handling of debutant keeper Glyn Garner with a 20-yard drive.

The hosts began to probe the Grays goal, Nicky Clee the next to force a save from Garner, who made an excellent save to turn his curling effort over the bar.

But against the run of play, Grays looked like ending their baron run when Alsseny Cissoko converted Wayne Gray's left-wing centre in the 61st minute.

Chris Senior rescued his side from embarrassment, though, linking up with Clee after 73 minutes to salvage a point as Harlee Dean was dismissed late on for Grays after picking up his second yellow card.

An 89th-minute Matty Tubbs penalty salvaged a point for ten-man Salisbury City.

Christian Smith put Wrexham ahead with 20 minutes to go, deflecting in a Curtis Obeng shot that was going wide.

Moments later Patrick Cox was sent-off for bringing down Andy Mangan when he was clear on goal, the striker then blowing a great headed chance.

With minutes left Obeng fouled Chris Flood in the box and Tubbs stepped forward nervelessly to all but end Wrexham's fading play-off hopes.

Former Chester City and Everton striker Nick Chadwick hit a hat trick as Barrow moved out of the relegation zone with a comfortable win over fellow strugglers Ebbsfleet United at Steonebridge Road.

Jason Walker crossed for Chadwick to score from six yards to give the visitors a 27th minute lead.

Chadwick scored again from close range almost immediately afterwards and completed his hat trick on 68 minutes when he nodded in a Paul Rutherford cross.

Moses Ashikodi headed in to give Fleet hope 14 minutes from time but Leon Crooks handled in the box and Walker scored from the spot with 7 minutes remaining.
