Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law admits his young side face a very difficult task to succeed at Fleetwood Town in Sunday's Blue Square North play-off final.
The Reds finished eleven points behind second-placed Fleetwood in the final table and now have to step into a white-hot Highbury Stadium atmosphere where the Lancashire side lost just once at home all season.
By contrast, Law's side managed only six away wins from their 20 trips on the road where they picked up only 26 points out of 60 available while Fleetwood picked up 49 out of 60 on home turf and then beat Droylsden 3-1 in the play off semi-final second leg before progressing on penalties.
Law said: "They will have a full house and are odds-on favourites. We are listed at 5-2 in a two-horse race which gives you some sort of idea of the sort of expectancy on Fleetwood and the lack of it from us.
"Both teams have come a long way in the last couple of years. We have turned around from a club who were happy to just survive in Conference North to one which almost everyone respects. I just hope we can go there and put up a good resistance and get lucky on the day."
If promotion is achieved, Law says it will be the ultimate reward for chairman Wayne Bradley.
He added: "Obviously it is going to be a proud day for everyone concerned with the club. The chairman has backed it for eleven years to now be within 90 minutes of Conference Premier Division football.
"I am sure during that time he has probably thought, 'Oh my God, what am I doing this for?', but hopefully he will now be thinking this is what it is all about.
"His opposite number will be thinking that as well, but this is what was expected for the amount of money they have spent on players and are paying out week by week.
"You don't have to be Einstein to understandFleetwood have underachieved this season, even being where they are now.
"The transfer fees they have paid out and wages they pay are huge and gets them the size, quality and experience that is within their squad.
"If I am honest, I think anything but success on Sunday for Fleetwood will have people asking questions about the people who have been making the decisions this year. It is important for them to get it right on the day."
Whatever the result, Law is determinedly proud of what his squad has achieved.
He ended: "I can't speak highly enough of them. They are a really great bunch of lads who are a pleasure to work with.
"It is going to be a great occasion for our players. But, when you look at the quality of their squad, the amount of ex-pro's in the team and the quality of players not even involved, it just identifies the enormity of the task ahead for our players.
"Having said that, we are in a win-win situation because if we lose, it will be expected. If we win it, people are going to say 'how the hell have you done that', and their people will be saying they should never have been in that position anyway and how have they lost to us?'
"We will just prepare as normal, go up there, work hard, and take what comes.
"The players have just got to go and enjoy the day, and at the end of it, win or lose, come off the pitch and think, well, I have given it my all and what will be will be."
