Alfreton Town go into this Sunday's Blue Square North play-off semi final second leg with a 1-0 advantage after victory in Cumbria in the first leg against Workington on Wednesday night.
In front of a crowd of 1,483 at Borough Park, the only goal of the game came from Liam Hearn on 54 minutes with an angled shot into the far corner after he had been sent through by Anton Brown.
The visiting Reds put in a confident, strong performance and dominated the second half, which will give their supporters great encouragement for the second leg at the Impact Arena (kick-off 3pm).
Fleetwood Town go into the second half of their play-off semi final with a mountain to climb following the first leg at Droylsden.
Having held a normally high-scoring home side for 70 minutes, Town surrendered the advantage by conceding two goals in 8 minutes and they now hope another bumper Highbury crowd can roar them into the final when the teams meet again on Sunday.
The Cod Army were present in force with around 600 making the trip in a 1,483 crowd at the Butcher`s Arms.
The Bloods broke the deadlock in the 71st minute, thanks to midfielder Alex Meechan, who hit a crisp shot wide of Danny Hurst from the edge of the area.
And they doubled their tally 10 minutes later when striker Tony Gray (pictured) struck home from the penalty spot – his twenty-fourth of the season to date - after Shaun Beeley was penalised for a challenge on Shaun Whalley.
The second leg is on Sunday (kick-off 4pm) and Fleetwood will need another inspirational performance in front of their own fans if they are to overcome a two-goal deficit.
