Heeley Announces Retained List
28 April 2010 11:29:00

Worcester City manager Carl Heeley has announced his retained list following a difficult season which ended with City finishing in the bottom three in Blue Square South.

The 2009/10 Young Player of the Year Gary Walker has agreed terms and will be staying at St George's Lane as will recent signing Jason Pike. Mark Clyde has also agreed to stay with the club and will be continuing in his player/assistant-manager role.

Offers have been made to Graham Ward, Shabir Khan, Matt Birley, Rob Elvins, Josh Quaynor, Jamie Price and Rob Davies within the financial structure that the manager will be keeping to. Each of them is considering their options and the manager is hopeful that they will agree to stay with the club as he embarks on the job of rebuilding a squad to show significant improvement on the lack of achievements last season.

Marc McGregor will also be returning to the club for pre-season when the striker, who has been missing from games recently due to injury problems, will have his fitness assessed with a hope that he will also be able to continue in the squad.

Jake Meredith is currently on holiday so he will be spoken to about his future at Worcester once he returns in the early part of next week.

Craig Wilding, Wayne Daniel, Marco Adaggio, Tom Kemp, Alfie Carter, Louis Bridges and Jack Connolly have all been released.

Heeley said: "I want to thank all those players who have not been retained for their efforts while with Worcester City and I wish them all the very best for the future.

"I want to pay particular praise to Craig Wilding who has shown tremendous loyalty during his time at the club. Craig has at times had to endure a lot of unfair criticism from a section of the fans but he has stood strong and has been a very valuable player for us.

“I can't think of a bad word to say about him but we both felt it was time for him to seek a new challenge away from the Lane."
