City Edge Five-Goal Thriller
24 August 2010 09:58:00

Worcester City made it three wins from their opening four matches in Blue Square Bet North after edging out Hinckley United by the odd goal in five at St George`s Lane on Monday night.

City`s second 3-2 win in 48 hours had a lot to do with a great start, given to them by Mark Danks and Matt Birley, who notched the opening goals in the 4th and 9th minute respectively.

Hinckley hit back within a minute though as Gavin Strachan curled a lovely effort beyond Tim Sandercombe from the dge of the box, somewhat reminicent of his father Gordon in times gone by.

And that great start was wiped out in first half stoppage time when Jack Roberts headed the Knitters back on terms.

Sandercombe was forced into making a couple of decent saves in the second half as the visitors pushed for a winner.

However, the majority in the 746 crowd went home happy as Simon Richman grabbed what proved to the winner for City with 10 minutes remaining.
