Fleetwood Town make the journey to Droylsden on Wednesday evening for the Blue Square North play-off semi final first leg.
Elsewhere, Workington host Alfreton Town in the other semi final.
Both games are ahead of Sunday’s second leg, with the final being contested on Sunday, 9th May at the home of the highest placed side in the league table.
Micky Mellon’s men shared the league spoils with Droylsden but the Town manager says the play-offs provide a new contest after both sides shared the spoils during the league season.
“I’ll be first to admit that we were well beaten at Droylsden at the start of the season. We were way short and lacking on that day. Back at home and the recent victory was deserved. The league season is now over and the play-offs provide a different challenge. It’s one we look forward to and will enjoy. The games will be tight and it is more or less a cup tie situation. We will need to be on top of our game to achieve the correct results.”
Although Town have home advantage in the second leg on Sunday, the manager isn’t convinced of the benefit.
“It’s not clear yet whether it’s an advantage or not. What we do know is we face two very tough games. We’ve been evenly matched this season with Droylsden and there hasn’t been a lot between us. They are both games we will need to be at our best.”
Mellon welcomed the return of his two regular full-backs last Saturday and reports no major injury concerns going into Wednesday’s game apart from long-term absentee Steven Torpey.
“There is no doubt we have missed Alan Wright and Shaun Beeley. They are an integral part to the way we play and it’s good to see them back and fully fit. Everyone has come through the weekend fine and it will be good to go into the play-offs with a clean bill of health.”
