Rovers Borrow Powell
16 October 2009 13:17:00

Following the return of Lewwis Spence to Wycombe Wanderers, 18-year-old Danny Powell has signed on a one-month emergency loan at Blue Square Premier club Forest Green Rovers from Coca-Cola League One outfit MK Dons.

From nearby Luton where he still lives, young Powell has been with the Dons since he was 14 and has already appeared seven times for them in Coca Cola League One, having the tag of being the youngest ever goalscorer for the club at senior level when he scored away at Hartlepool United as a 17-year-old.

Paul Ince is convinced the player needs some more experience in his central midfield role and believes a spell in the Blue Square Premier under David Hockaday could be what he needs at this time.

Having spent this week training with Rovers he will therefore know his new team-mates fairly well before they hit the road to Histon on Saturday.

MK Dons have also given permission for Powell to play in the FA Cup and that will certainly be a baptism of fire for Powell and several others in the squad as Rovers face a stiff local derby tie away to Mangotsfield United, who play just down the road from the New Lawn.
