Heggs Returns to Knitters
08 February 2010 18:09:00

Carl Heggs has made a return to Blue Square North club Hinckley United and goes straight into the squad for Monday`s game with Southport at the Greene King Stadium.

The veteran striker has recently been with league rivals Redditch United but has left to make a return and add some experience to Hinckley`s forward line.

The 39-year-old scored seven goals in twenty-nine games during his last spell with the Knitters which ended in February 2007.

During a Football League career he played for West Bromwich Albion, Bristol Rovers, Swansea City, Northampton Town, Chester City and Carlisle United. At non-league level he represented Forest Green Rovers, Tamworth (two spells), Redditch United (two spells) and King`s Lynn where he was player-manager until their demise last year.

He links up with fellow new signing Leighton Simmonds, who was also with him at Lynn.

Manager Dean Thomas said: "Carl is the sort of experience you need both out on the field and in the changing room having some banter with the lads and firing them up.

"He's an old pro who has been there and done it and he is what we need to blend with the current mix we have at the club."
