Andrew Perry has resigned as chairman and from the Board of Directors of Blue Square Bet Premier club Mansfield Town with immediate effect.
Perry made the decision after stating his desire to devote more time to his business.
Andrew Saunders becomes interim chairman until the next Annual General Meeting in August.
A statement from the Board of Directors read: "We would like to thank Andy for his hard work and commitment over the last two years and for his work in helping put the club back at the heart of the community."
Perry said: "As one door closes, another one opens, but my decision to leave will not stop the growth of the club.
"I thank the directors for their hard work and most importantly I would like to thank the fans - the heartbeat of the club. I cannot praise them highly enough."
"This club still requires the backing of the whole Town," he added.
