Smith Moves to Mansfield

Wide player Adam Smith has quit play-off finalists York City to join Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Mansfield Town.

Smith joined York midway through last season from Blue Square Bet North side Gainsborough Trinity, initially on loan.

He joined Chesterfield from school and turned professional in 2004 and made a number of senior appearances for the Spireites. He had a loan spell with Lincoln City in 2007/08 before being released by Chesterfield at the end of the season.

Smith, 25, who made nineteen appearances for the Minstermen, turned down manager Martin Foyle's invitation to return to pre-season training to prove his fitness.
