Cambridge United have announced defender Brian Saah has signed a two-year contract with the Blue Square Bet Premier club.
The 23-year-old joined the U's in August 2009 under a contract to run until the end of the season and went on to make thirty-eight appearances for the U's.
Saah achieved runner-up in the Internet player of the season awards and was recently named in Paul Fairclough's eighteen-man England `C` squad for the opening International Challenge Trophy game with the Republic of Ireland next week.
Manager Martin Ling told cambridgeunited.com: "This is a massive signing for the Football Club. It's important for me that a player of his pedigree has chosen to stay with us when there were other Clubs interested in him.
"I know the boy inside out having worked with him since the age of 14. He will come in as our club captain next year, which will involve duties in and around the training ground. When Paul Carden is not available to us, Brian will also be the team captain.
"I think this shows in what esteem I hold this signing, Brian is a big part of the jigsaw and now means my defensive unit is complete.
"Brian has kept me fully informed throughout the negotiation and he needed to make sure it was the right choice for him and his family, which has recently had a new addition."
