Blue Square Premier club Cambridge United have signed former Histon striker Antonio Murray.
Murray, a pacey, skilful attacker, began his career in the youth team at Chelsea before a successful traineeship at Ipswich Town where he earned his first professional contract.
After two-and-a-half years with the Tractor Boys, in which he made a single appearance for the first-team against Derby County, he was transferred to Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League in January 2005.
He made a quick impact. However, his time at Easter Road was blighted by injury and he was able to make just thirteen appearances before re-building his career elsewhere.
At the start of the 2006/07 campaign he trialled at Wycombe Wanderers but signed a permanent deal with Histon. Having sat on the sidelines at first, a spell of seven goals in nine games helped the Stutes to the top of the league and into the Conference National.
A former England `C` international, he was selected for an International Challenge Cup game against Italy in November 2008.
He moved to Chelmsford City in August 2009.
The free agent, who scored thirty-three goals in eighty-nine matches for the Stutes, will be at the R Costings Abbey until the end of the season.
He replaces former Tranmere Rovers Andy Parkinson in the U's squad after the winger had his contract ended by mutual consent.
