`The Testicle Tour` to Stop Off at Cambridge United
25 January 2010 11:31:00

On the evening of Cambridge United`s home Blue Square Premier game with Oxford United on Tuesday, March 2nd, `The Testicle Tour` will visit The R Costings Abbey Stadium.

They will perform their own unique version of a penalty shoot out using large pink fluffy testicles!

The Testicle Tour is a testicular cancer awareness campaign that was created by best mates Darren Couchman and Richard Miller.

Their aim is to raise the profile of this illness in a funny, light hearted way and also raise monies for the Everyman Male Cancer Campaign.

Testicular cancer is often seen as an embarrassing illness because of what it affects. They want to break down this barrier using humour. Darren used lots of humour in his fight against testicular cancer and now he wants to bring this humour to the people of England.

Previous events include walking up Mount Snowdon with a fluffy testicle, running 5k with a testicle on their backs, sitting in a bath of nuts on Trafalgar Square to promote the message "the best place to check your nuts is in the bath", a tour of Cambridge during university Ball week, plus many more unique wacky events. The Testicle Tour also do many educational talks around schools, colleges, companies and clubs.

At half time during the game against big rivals Oxford The Testicle Tour, along with the clubs mascot Marvin the Moose, will stage a penalty shoot out competition but they will use one of the large fluffy testicles instead of a football. It promises to be a spectacle and an excellent photo opportunity, but at the same time it will deliver an important message to the fans; men should be more aware of testicular cancer and carry out regular self checks.

Will Jones Media and PR Executive from CUFC said: “This event is a great way to raise awareness of the issues surrounding Testicular Cancer. It will be a bit of fun on the evening but there is a serious message underpinning things and as a club we’re only too happy to welcome the guys and help spread the word and raise awareness.”

For more information about this unique awareness event and to arrange an interview/photo opportunity, please contact Darren Couchman on 07905041960 or Will Jones at Cambridge United FC on 07889 170552.
