Whether they are viewers of afternoon TV quiz shows or not, supporters of Blue Square Bet North club Blyth Spartans have recently had this question on their lips – Dale or no Dale?
Would the mercurial forward, or left-sided player, who has been at Croft Park for five years sign a new contract with Spartans or succumb to the advances of other clubs?
Their worries have, however, been allayed with the announcement that, despite an approach by Blue Square Bet Premier neighbours Gateshead, Dale has sealed a deal with Blyth.
“I thank Gateshead for their interest but I was never looking to leave Blyth Spartans,” said Dale.
“No disrespect to Gateshead but I firmly believe Blyth to be the bigger club with their tradition and supporter base. I’m also sure that within two or three years we will be challenging for promotion.”
Spartans` chairman Tony Platten commented: “In the last week or so manager Mick Tait has signed a new contract, the league’s top scorer last season, Paul Brayson, has done likewise and now we’ve secured Robbie for another two seasons.
“It’s tremendous news for everyone at the club and I know that Mick is looking to bring in a couple of new players to bolster our squad.”
