24 July 2010 19:55:00

A round-up of Saturday`s pre-season friendly games involving Football Conference clubs.

Blue Square Bet South side Staines Town entertained League One promotees Dagenham & Redbridge at Wheatsheaf Park on Saturday in a game originally arranged as part of the transfer which brought Mark Nwokeji to the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham Stadium.

Nwokeji has since left and joined AFC Wimbledon following a long knee problem.

However, the game finished 1-0 to the Daggers with Jon Nurse scoring the winner on 29 minutes.

Staines` league rivals Welling United turned on the style at Park View Road and certainly impressed by beating a young Arsenal side 4-1.

The goals came from Loick Pires (pictured), Luis Cumbers, Loui Fazakerley and Daryl Robson.

The inaugural Phil Ledger Memorial Cup was won by Blue Square Bet Premier side AFC Wimbledon at Kingfield against Blue Square Bet South hosts Woking - all four goals coming from Dons` captain Danny Kedwell.

Blue Square Bet North side Alfreton Town looked impressive as they beat Conference Premier visitors Luton Town 3-0 at the Impact Arena.

The Reds` goals came from Anton Brown after 11 minutes, Chris Hall on 69 and Josh Law less than a minute later.

Blue Square Bet North club AFC Telford United won the Supporters Direct Cup for the first time at the New Bucks Head against Evo-Stik league Premier Division FC United of Manchester.

Goals from Andy Brown and Alex Meechan sealed the victory for the Bucks.

Blue Square Bet South side Bromley won 1-0 at Nyewood Lane against Ryman Division One South Bognor Regis Tiwn.

The only goals came when new signing Tony Finn cut the ball back inside the box and Nic McDonnell was there to fire the ball low beyond Craig Stoner in the Rocks goal.

Andy Bell hit the winner as Evo-Stik Division One North side AFC Fylde saw off Blue Square Bet Premier neighbours Southport 2-1 at Kellamergh Park.

Bell slid in a low finish 19 minutes from time after substitute Michael Barnes had veered in from the left before laying the ball off for the striker to score.

The home team began the match with purpose and were rewarded for a lively start when Tom Cahill found the bottom left corner on 8 minutes..
Summer signing Matty McNeil stood out during his first half appearance, displaying some smart touches and holding the ball up well, and he ensured Southport were not behind for long, flicking home Paul Barratt’s ball into the box.

Matt Mahoney saw a shot blocked by Shaun Gray after goalkeeper Steve Dickinson had fumbled an initial attempt from Bell, who struck the winner on 71 minutes.

Newly-named Blue Square Bet North club Hyde FC won 2-1 in Wales against Principality Welsh Premier hosts Prestatyn Town.

After a goalless first half, strikes by Kyle Wilson and Ashley Stott put the Tigers in command before Ian Griffiths pegged one back with 5 minutes left.

The Northamptonshire derby between Blue Square Bet North side Corby Town and Premier Kettering Town saw the visitors continue their losing friendly sequence after going down 2-1 at Rockingham Triangle in front of a crowd of 605.

Corby took a 2-0 lead through Ben Mackey in the 3rd minute and Stephen Towers on 39.

Kettering came back strongly in the second half but only had Iyseden Christies's 55th minute strike to show for their efforts.

Blue Square Bet South Dover Athletic won 2-0 at Champion Hill against Ryman Division One South hosts Dulwich Hamlet.

Jackson Ohakam broke the deadlock with the opening Dover goal 3 minutes after half time and the Kent side sealed victory through Adam Birchall 2 minutes from time.
