Gateshead Spread the Net
24 July 2010 09:36:00

Having already scoured the country for the final four signings to complete his squad, Ian Bogie, manager of Blue Square Bet Premier club Gateshead, has spread the net to include foreign talent.

Bermuda international Tyrell Burgess is currently trialling with the club having jetted in from the West Indies. And now Scandinavia has also come on to Bogie’s radar.

Two un-named Danish defenders will take part in a practice game at the International Stadium on Saturday - part of the free-entry Gateshead FC Open Day.

Striker Kenneth Djoeneri, a 27-year-old who has been playing for AC Horsens in Denmark, will then fly in to Tyneside on Monday to train with the Tynesiders.

Horsens will feature in the behind-closed-doors friendly at Sunderland on Tuesday and in next Friday’s warm-up game against a Newcastle United XI at the International Stadium.

John Terry’s elder brother Paul will also feature in those games, and Bogie hopes to have a look at other transfer targets.

Bogie (pictured) said: “The Danish link came through an agent. I don’t know much about the players but it is an avenue worth exploring.

“I have been scouring the market for players who are free agents and also some who are currently attached to a club as it is important we bring the right people in.”
