Guiseley Bring in Trio
26 July 2010 11:13:00

Steve Kittrick, manager of Blue Square Bet North new boys Guiseley, has added three more players to his squad for the coming season.

Tom Penford has joined from neighbours Farsley, Gavin Rothery from Carlisle United and Jake McEneaney from Burnley.

Born in Leeds, Penford joined Bradford City's youth system at the tender age of 10 and made his first-team debut at Preston in April 2003.

Making just twenty-three first-team appearances in the following five seasons, he was eventually released at the end of the 2007/08 season.

He then joined Farsley Celtic for their first season in Conference North following their relegation from the Conference National in May 2008.

Rothery, also Leeds born, progressed through his home-town’s youth system and was named in the England under-19 squad in February 2006 before agreeing a one-year contract with Leeds in 2007.

Subsequently released in April 2008, Rothery moved to York City making three first-team appearances before joining Harrogate Town in December 2008.

Following a successful trial he joined Carlisle in January 2009 and played six times for the first-team and also spent a short time on loan at Blue Square Bet Premier side Barrow before being released last month.

Left-back McEneaney, 18, was released by Burnley at the end of last season.

Last season saw McEneaney (pictured) make a debut for Wales at youth level. He also played extensively in Burrnley`s reserve side.

However, the Skipton-born player was not offered a deal in the Spring.

His search for a new club ended with Guiseley after impressing for them in a pre-season game against Garforth Town, coming on as a substitute.

It was after this game that he put pen-to-paper and on Saturday he was in the starting line-up as they continued their pre-season against Frickley Athletic.
