Braintree Town moved up to fourth spot and into the Blue Square South play-off places with a 2-1 win away at play-off hopefuls Thurrock on Tuesdaty night.
Sean Marks opened the scoring for the visitors in the 27th minute, but their joy was short lived as Paul Olima levelled things up again just 3 minutes later.
But George Purcell's 65th minute effort ensured that the Iron came away with three valuable points and gave them a huge boost in their bid to make the play-offs this season.
However, there was a shock and blow to Dover Athletic`s hopes as they went down to a surprise 2-0 defeat against fourth-bottom Worcester City at Crabble.
Missing a number of players through injury, Marc McGregor (62 minutes) and Rob Elvins (85) time struck to complete the double over the Kent side following a 1-0 success at St George`s Lane back in October.
There was something of a `six-pointer` at the Beveree where Hampton & Richmond Borough hosted fellow strugglers Dorchester Town.
Debutant Josh Llewellyn experienced a night of mixed emotions.
Llewellyn, who only joined the Magpies on Monday after being released by league rivals and neighbours Weymouth in a bid to cut costs, nodded the visitors in front inside the first quarter of an hour. However, his opening night in Dorchester colours drew to a premature close as a hamstring injury forced him off only 11 minutes later.
Another man made to take an early bath was the ex-Terras` replacement – leading marksman Matt Groves, who threw an elbow in a 50/50 tussle in the second half and was sent-off as a result.
Dorchester, who were 2-0 up at the time following a 30th minute goal from Ryan Moss, were then pegged back soon after as Ian Hodges headed home. But the visitors hung on for their first away win since the end of January.
