Even before the door has closed on this season, Thurrock manager Hakan Hayrettin is preparing for next season to progress the Blue Square South club even further.
Progression is the aim of the young boss who believes in togetherness and teamwork having a positive effect all around the club.
Expectations have been lifted due to the club pushing for a place in the play-offs until the last few weeks of the season by keeping faith with most of the squad from the previous season.
“We where defeated not by the opposition but by the weather and the fixture congestion in March, combined with injuries and suspensions that happen,” said Hayrettin. “I was restricted in what I could do with the players I had available.
“When I look at the teams that did reach this year`s play-offs I think to myself, `we are as good as them`, so before the start of next season I will be looking to increase the squad in size and quality.
“Being a part-time manager doesn`t mean only working part-time - I will be working throughout the summer seeking out the players I need to take this club to the next level.
“My young squad now has another year`s experience under their belts and this can only be good thing. Next year we are the premier club in the Borough and therefore need to play at the highest level possible, so we are not targeting a play-off position, but automatic promotion!"
