Blue Square Premier club Rushden & Diamonds have announced that defender Jamie Stuart has signed to remain at Nene Park for another season.
Stuart signed at Nene Park on a one-year deal in June 2009, later being announced as captain. He played forty-seven games in all competitions, scoring four goals, and won the Supporters` player of the season and the Travel Club away player of the season.
Manager Justin Edinburgh commented: “I'm absolutely delighted to have secured Jamie's signing for another season. He's shown his value on and off the pitch as a fantastic leader and hopefully this signing will set an example to the other players out of contract that we have offered contracts to.
“Jamie has shown his value and has won numerous awards this season, I'm delighted and I'm sure the fan are too, Jamie's signing is great news to take the club forward.”
Defender Simon Downer has also been offered a contract and is in talks with the club.
So as things stand the squad list for the 2010/11 Blue Square Bet Premier campaign is as follows:
Confirmed for next season are Dale Roberts, Joe Day, Curtis Osano, Michael Corcoran, Jamie Stuart, Aynsley McDonald, Neil Cousins, Lee Tomlin, Sam Smith, Craig Farrell and Nabil Shariff.
The following have been offered contracts and talks are in progress - Simon Downer, Kurt Robinson, Shane Huke, Max Porter, Mark Byrne, Paul Terry and Aaron O’Connor.
