Harrogate Sign Two More
14 December 2009 11:33:00

Simon Weaver, manager of Blue Square North club Harrogate Town, was very busy in the transfer market last week, bringing in Eastwood Town duo Peter Knox and Martin Foster, together with Jason Bradley on loan from Mansfield Town.

He then added Lee Bennett on loan from Coca-Cola League Two side Lincoln City along with striker Simon Yeo, who made his debut in Saturday`s FA Trophy First Round draw at Gateshead.

Bennett (pictured), 19, joins us on long-term loan from Lincoln where he has been a regular for the Imp`s reserves.

He joined from Barnsley College last December and made his Football League debut at Bradford City as a substitute in August.

Yeo joined the club from Droylsden, whom he joined in the summer after retiring from professional football.

Yeo first came to prominence when playing in Ireland whilst serving in the Army. He played for the likes of Ards before his contract was cancelled to allow him to return home to England to join Curzon Ashton in October 1997.

However, he quickly returned to Irish football, joining Coleraine the following month and he remained with them for the remainder of the 1997/98 season before joining the then Northern Premier side Hyde United and went on to score 111 goals in a total of 169 league and cup appearances for them before joining Lincoln City in May 2002.

Yeo enjoyed two spells with Lincoln, separated by a period playing for the New Zealand Knights in the newly-formed A-League.

Yeo joined Chester from Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee in January 2007, and then in May 2008 it was announced that he would be joining up with his former manager Keith Alexander once again as he signed with Macclesfield Town, but after just one season with Macclesfield, Yeo announced his retirement from football.

However, during the last close season he returned to Tameside to join Blue Square North side Droylsden, whom he left in late October.
