Micky Mellon took his Fleetwood Town squad through their paces at Collins Park on Thursday evening and welcomed his two latest additions.
New signing Steven Torpey and Blackburn Rovers loan youngster Michael Hall joined the first team session.
“It’s important we added to the numbers as we are a touch light at the moment. We’ve brought in two quality additions to what is already a quality squad. We have a good bunch of lads who all get on with each other and the two new players soon settled into their stride.”
Alfreton have picked up six points this week starting with a 4-0 romp at Harrogate Town last Saturday and a midweek home win over Gainsborough Trinity. Both games took place whilst Fleetwood were busy seeing off Conference Premier Kidderminster Harriers in the FA Cup and Mellon now finds his team playing Blue Square North catch-up.
“It’s important we get back to basics and concentrate on Conference North football. Our league position has slipped whilst we’ve been in cup action and that makes Saturday’s game even more important for us. Alfreton will bring a strong side and will prove a big challenge. They are maintaining a close distance with the leaders and we will need a top performance against them.
“I’ve an idea which direction I want to play the game but I don’t want to give too much away at this stage.”
