Highbury Set For Cracking Cup Replay
27 October 2009 10:57:00

Highbury Stadium is in store for a cracking FA Cup tie tonight when Fleetwood Town and Kidderminster Harriers once again try to settle their differences.

This follows Saturday’s stalemate in the Fourth Qualifying Round at Aggborough.

Blue Square Premier Kidderminster were unable to overcome their Blue Square North visitors despite home advantage and finished last Saturday’s game with ten-men when skipper Chris McPhee was sent-off in second half added time for a foul on Jamie McGuire.

Both sides progressed past this stage last season – Fleetwood advancing to the second round and narrowly missed out to Hartlepool United whilst Harriers reached the third round, losing away to Coventry City 2-0.

A trip to Football League Northampton Town, currently fifteenth in League Two, awaits the victors on Saturday, 7th November.

Town manager Micky Mellon is upbeat about his preparation for tonight’s game but remains wary of the threat Kidderminster bring to the Lancashire coast.

“Training yesterday morning went well. This Monday session is something we’ve just started in our push to going full-time and it gave us an opportunity to assess Saturday’s performance.

“We know a very tough game lies ahead of us at Highbury. They will come here and really know what to expect after Saturday. It will be up to our players to match their levels again and go beyond what we did in what was a very tight cup tie.

“Kidderminster showed just how good they can be in what was a high tempo game and I expect the same again tonight. They won’t be too pleased about being forced into a replay and I’m sure their manager had a few choice words.

“The prize is there for all to see with the winners putting themselves up against league opposition. But there is a great deal of hard work to do before that thought is even entertained.

“The travelling support on Saturday was top class. A decent crowd is expected at Highbury tonight. The Town is buzzing after Saturday and an electric atmosphere will give us that extra edge which may end up seeing us through to the next round.”
