Blue Square Premier leaders Oxford United have strengthened their squad with the loan signing of striker Onome Sodje from Coca-Cola Championship side Barnsley.
Sodje began his career with Charlton before loans at Welling United and then Gravesend & Northfleet. He then joined Fleet permanently and scored the winner as they became the first side to beat United in the Conference in 2006/07.
Fast and direct, Sodje (pictured) scored eleven goals in eighteen starts for Gravesend before joining York City in 2007. He scored twenty-two times in fortyy-seven starts for the Minstermen before joining Barnsley this summer.
The 21-year-old completed the paperwork on his loan in time for him to play a part as Chris Wilder's side travel to Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night.
Wilder said: "He's an exciting talent who has handled Conference football and excelled at this level. He has a good scoring record and can play anywhere along the front line. He is still a young player who has a great desire to improve and do well and he will certainly add to the more than decent group of players that we have here."
