Blue Square South club Braintree Town have signed one-time Manchester United prospect Ramon Calliste.
Calliste spent five years with the current Premier League champions, and was part of the youth team squad which won the FA Youth Cup in 2003 and was unfortunately labelled with the tag of being the `New Beckham`!
Following his release in the summer of 2005 he was snapped up on a one-year deal by fellow Premier League side Liverpool, scoring on his reserve team debut against Newcastle United.
In July 2006 he made the switch to Scunthorpe United, but a horrific ankle injury sustained in a pre season friendly curtailed his season.
Returning to full fitness, Calliste agreed a short-term deal with Cambridge City at the start of this season, returning nine goals in twenty-three appearances, including a hat trick against Bashley.
A regular in the Wales under-21 squad, Calliste penned an initial deal at Cherrywood Road until the end of the 2009/10 season.
