Chelmsford City managed to stay away from their fellow Blue Square South clubs when the draw for the Second Qualifying Round was made at Wembley Stadium on Monday.
Glenn Pennyfather’s team instead have been drawn to face either Enfield 1893 or Halstead Town away from home.
The tie, which will take place on Saturday, 26th September, will feature one of two sides from several steps below City in the non-League Pyramid and will be properly set-up once Essex Senior Leaguers Enfield and Ridgeons League Division One club Halstead are separated in Tuesday night’s replay at Rosemary Lane.
The teams drew 3-3 in the initial fixture last Saturday and all three clubs know a win at the Second Qualifying Round stage could eventually net them a useful £4,500 in prize money.
Meanwhile, Chelmsford City Ladies’ first-team will now be away to Runwell Hospital on Sunday 27th September in the FA Women’s Cup First Qualifying Round after Runwell beat Hutton 2-1 on Sunday in their Preliminary Round tie.
