City Remained Cool and Calm
07 September 2009 12:16:00

Chelmsford City`s head coach Glenn Pennyfather has claimed the squad have remained cool and focussed through their bad spell.

And they came out of the other side stronger as they aim to win consecutive games when Lewes pay a visit to Melbourne for Monday night’s game in the Blue Square South.

The Clarets ended a poor run of form with a 2-0 win over St Albans City at the weekend and Pennyfather revealed: “The only pressure we feel is the pressure we put on ourselves and we don’t feel it from elsewhere. Obviously there were some areas of the press who gave us a hard time but we’re not going to get carried away with one win in just the same way we didn’t get carried away with the defeats. This is a building process for us and we don’t want expectation levels to get too high.”

City’s boss has the same squad available to select from as he did for the weekend’s encounter, meaning Danny Hockton and Ben Martin came through their returns unscathed as they now search for full match fitness. Midfielder Ollie Berquez remains on the sidelines in a support with the broken bone in his foot, as does centre half Simon Glover who is recovering from a neck operation.

Lewes have made an indifferent start to life in the Blue Square South this season and are yet to win after eight games. However, Pennyfather confirmed there will be no room for complacency in his side, adding: “This will be tough game as they’ve just come down from the Conference National with a few off-pitch problems but they had a good battle against Basingstoke at the weekend and got a draw and a clean sheet. We will be giving them the utmost respect as we do every opponent and our players are desperate to play.”
