Blue Square North club Fleetwood Town continued the summer spending by swooping to capture the signatures of Gareth Seddon from Blue Square Premier side Kettering Town and former Blackpool player Claus Jorgensen.
Seddon, 29, is a former Bury hit-man, who joined the Poppies from Hyde United in July 2008.
Seddon enjoyed a prolific period at Hyde where he scored sixty-two goals in eighty-seven appearances. He was a 71st minute substitute in the Poppies` 2-0 Conference home win over Altrincham last Saturday.
The striker enhanced his goalscoring reputation during the 2008/09 season with twenty-three goals, must notably with both winning goals against Notts County and Eastwood Town in Kettering’s FA Cup.
Meanwhile, Jorgesen, 33, is an out-and-out midfielder who made 100 appearances for the Coca-Cola Championship side, his century coming on the final day of last season with the 1-0 win over Swansea City.
The Dane, who opted play his international football for the Faroe Islands, was not offered a new deal at Bloomfield Road and was just two starts short of an automatic contract extension.
Fleetwood chairman Andy Pilley said: “I’d like to welcome Claus to Highbury and to Fleetwood Town Football Club. We know all about him and he is a fantastic professional. He’s a box-to-box midfield player full of the attributes you would want any professional footballer to possess. He will be a shining example to the players on, and off, the pitch on how to conduct themself and play a professional game.”
On Seddon, Pilley added: “I’d also like to invite Gareth to the club. He’s a prolific forward and you can never have enough goal scorers at club, in my opinion. It goals that win games and Gareth plays exciting football and will create plenty of competition for places amongst the outstanding, quality forwards we already have at Highbury.”
Seddon said: “I’m excited to join Fleetwood Town. I’ve spoken with the chairman and manager and they’ve told me about the ambition of the club and I’m looking forward to seeing all that happen. Good and exciting move.
“I’ve played in this league before and scored something like sixty-eight-odd goals in just over as many games. I also had a decent season in the Conference last year scoring twenty-three goals. I know they didn’t want to let me go, but the prospect of moving back home to Burnley was strong.”
