Posh Chance for Crawley Boy
24 July 2009 08:39:00

Blue Square Premier club Crawley Town`s young star Danny Mills has signed for Coca-Cola Championship outfit Peterborough United.

In fact both Peterborough and Glasgow Rangers made offers for the 18-year-old and the Town board decided to accept the one from the London Road side.

Earlier this month Mills had a trial at Rangers while Reds were on a mini pre-season tour of Scotland.

He made only two substitute appearances for the Reds' first-team last season but has attracted the attention of higher clubs based upon his impressive top scoring goal tally for Crawley's youth team.

In their debut season they won their division of the Conference Youth League before reaching the national finals.

Town chairman Vic Marley said: "There has been significant interest in young Danny Mills but it does not surprise any of us to be honest especially our team manager Steve Evans who rates the kid highly.

"In relation to the offers proposed, both offers were given full consideration as was a request from Glasgow Rangers to have the boy back up in Scotland this week.

"It was felt by the directors that for the career enhancement of Danny Mills, one offer stood out above the others."

The ideal is believed to include a lucrative sell-on or appearance clause which could benefit Town in the long term.
