Blue Square Premier club Crawley Town have signed experienced defender or midfielder Chris Carruthers from league rivals Oxford United.
Kettering-born, Carruthers started his career with nearby Northampton Town where he made over seventy starts after progressing through the youth system, and was selected for the England under-20s side.
In 2005 he moved onto Bristol Rovers following a successful loan and went on to play well over 100 times for the Gas before joining the U's in the summer of 2008.
However, to date he has made just one league start for Oxford.
