Sak Not for Dragons!
03 September 2009 10:17:00

It is quite strange how some stories take on a life of their own and no matter what you say, some people will continue to believe what they want to believe!

Despite informing reports on Tuesday that young Polish keeper Erwin Sak wasn't asking for his release from Cardiff City to sign for Blue Square Premier club Wrexham, the story still hit the wires.

Wrexham secretary Geraint Parry said: “We can though safely say that the player has at present NOT signed a deal with Wrexham FC!

“His name was raised last week in conversation with goalkeeping coach Michael Oakes, a former Cardiff player himself, when discussing possible loan targets over the Bank Holiday weekend, should Chris Maxwell have been injured at Forest Green.

“Such a signing from Cardiff City would have negated the need for international clearance on a Bank Holiday Monday, meaning that there would have been at least half a chance of getting him registered in time to face Barrow - had the need arisen.

“Since then, the player has negotiated his own release from Cardiff City, and by doing so before the transfer window closed is now free to sign for another club.

“As such and because of his association with Michael, he has accepted an invitation to come training with us in the near future, but at the moment, that's as far as the story goes.

“If anything else further develops over the coming days, and as we don't have a game until 12th September there isn't a great rush on our behalf, then fair enough - but as things stand, we can only repeat that the 19-year-old has NOT signed any contract with the Dragons nor has any been discussed.”
