Blue Square Premier club Barrow have agreed terms with former Chester City midfielder James Owen until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old former Wales under-17 international is a central midfielder who left the Deva Stadium last month.
He made his first start for the club in a 1-0 win at Accrington Stanley in April of that year.
He made seven appearances during his first season in professional football as Chester were relegated from the Football League.
Owen's contract was cancelled by mutual consent last month as the financial crisis at Chester worsened.
After leaving the Deva Stadium, Caernarfon-born Owen joined league rivals Wrexham on trial where he scored in a 3-2 friendly win over Principality Welsh Premier side Airbus UK Broughton.
