Eastleigh – a side beaten 8-2 by Thurrock only a couple of weeks back – moved into the Blue Square South play-off zone after beating struggling Lewes at the Dripping Pan on Wednesdy night.
The Spitfires, who ironically leap-frogged over Thurrock in moving into fifth place, have responded to that embarrasing thrashing in Essex with three successive away wins.
However, things didn`t start well for the Spitfires as striker Richard Gillespie was injured in the warm-up.
His replacement in attack, recent signing Ross Bottomley (pictured), scored the opening goal after 6 minutes.
Jean-Michel Sigere pulled the home side back on level terms on 32 minutes, but 5 minutes before the break, on-loan Portsmouth defender Luke Wilkinson headed in what proved to be the winner.
