Former Southampton favourote Jo Tessem has come to the rescue to help Blue Square South club Eastleigh after their injury problems worsened this week.
The Norwegian striker has agreed a pay-as-you play deal with the Spitfires, which will run until the end of the season if it suits both the player and the club.
Tessem, 37, had been training with Eastleigh for some time to keep himself fit.
But manager Ian Baird was forced to ask him if he would be willing to lend his talent and know-how to the seventh-placed Spitfires’ play-off bid after three more players joined the club’s injured list this week
Also joining the Spitfires until the end of the season is striker Staforde Palmer from Blue Square Premier side Hayes & Yeading United.
The 21-year-old progressed patiently through the ranks at Hayes FC from the F.E.D.O. youth sides to a successful transition to reserve team football before making his first-team debut in November 2006 at Braintree Town.
He signed for Hayes & Yeading United at the point of merger, making his debut as a substitute in the new club`s first ever game at Lewes in August 2007.
A lively striker with a good eye for goal who ended his first season with United as joint top scorer alongside Josh Scott, hitting the net fifteen times.
During his second season he spent a successful month`s loan at Northwood to aid injury recovery, scoring a hat trick on his debut for them.
He spent the first three months of this season on loan to Blue Square South side Maidenhead United.
