Saturday`s Blue Square North Review...
06 February 2010 17:52:00

It`s as you were as far as the top two go in Blue Square North after a `rare` full fixture list saw both leaders Fleetwood Town and second-placed Southport win on Saturday.

Fleetwood enjoyed a very good 20 win at play-off chasing Corby Town at the Rockingham Triangle.

Adam Warlow put the visitors in front with a free header after 23 minutes and the leaders wrapped up their win when recent signing Anthony Barry added a second with 7 minutes remaining.

Southport, meanwhile, had to fight all the way for their points at Haig Avenue against Blyth Spartans, who led through Ian Graham after 16 minutes.

Earl Davis equalised in the 31st minute and Chris Simm put the hosts in front 8 minutes later, only for Paul Brayson to pull the Spartans beack on terms a couple of minutes after half time.

But Simm won it for Liam Watson`s side 9 minutes from time.

Third-placed Hinckley United, who included one of two new faces in their squad after haing their transfer embargo lifted, were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Northwich Victoria.

Wayne Riley had Vics ahead after 23 minutes, but Andy Hall equalised on 56 minutes to at least ensure the Knitters weren`t beaten.

And Dean Thomas` side would have been boosted by the fact that Eastwood Town were surprisingly held to a goalless draw at Coronation Park by bottom-markers Vauxhall Motors, while Droylsden dropped out of the play-off zone after being hammered 5-1 at home by AFC Telford United.

Telford led through Phil Trainer after 15 minutes and then the Bloods had Kevin Leadbetter sent-off with a straight red card before Andy Brown added a second from the penalty spot after 23 minutes.

The home side pulled a goal back through Tony Gray 10 minutes later and held the Bucks until 3 minutes from time when Jon Adams made the game safe with number three.

The tiring hosts then conceded two more from Brown and Trainer before the end to make the final score 5-1.

Alfreton Town replaced the Bloods in the top five after beating second-bottom Harrogate Town 3-1 at the Impact Arena.

Anton Brown opened the Reds` account after 8 minutes and Paul Clayton doubled it on 35 minutes.

Jake Moult added number three 8 minutes after the break, with Harrogate netting a consolation through sub Adam Nowakowski on 62 minutes.

Stalybridge Celtic were held to a 2-2 Bower Fold draw by Stafford Rangers, who trailed 2-0 to goals from Keith Briggs after 16 minutes and Gareth Jennings on 38.

Fabrice Kasiama pulled the first back 9 minutes into the second half and Tom Thorley equalised with 10 minutes to go.

Redditch United and Hyde United shared a goalless draw at the Valley Stadium, as did third-bottom Gainsborough Trinity and Ilkeston Town at the Northolme, while a 41st minute Gareth Arnison effort proved enough for Workington at Borough Park against another struggler, Solihull Moors.

And a Ben Hunt goal after 11 minutes earned Gloucester City three precious points at Throstle Nest against Farsley Celtic.
