Blue Square North club Solihull Moors have signed two former Football League players to add to their battle against relegation.
Simon Johnson (pictured), who left Zamaretto League Premier Division side Halesowen Town to try and pursue a career back in the Football League earlier this week, has put pen-to-paper for Moors.
Johnson gave notice he was leaving Halesowen after the 2-2 draw at Hednesford Town and is currently on trial at Coca-Cola League Two outfit Burton Albion.
He signed professional terms for Leeds United in 2000 and after a loan spell with Hull City he made his Premier League debut for Leeds in 2002.
He joined Darlington in 2005 and moved onto Hereford in 2007. He left the club by mutual consent at the end of the 2009 season and started out with Bury this term, signing for Halesowen in October.
Also joining Moors is another 26-year-old former professional in Ryan Amoo.
Amoo began his career with Aston Villa. He failed to make the senior side at Villa Park, but he did make his League bow whilst on loan at Northampton duing the 2003/04 season.
He moved permanently to the Cobblers and totalled five more appearances before being released at the end of the 2004/05 campaign.
At this point, Amoo was involved in a six-month relationship with the late reality television star Jade Goody and, following their separation, dropped out of the professional ranks to join Leicestershire Senior League side Highfield Rangers.
He moved to their league rivals Barrow Town before being offered a trial with Lincoln City in June 2006 whose then director of football John Deehan had worked with Amoo at Northampton.
The trial was successful with Amoo agreeing a one-year contract with the Imps.
The 2006/07 season saw Amoo establish himself as a regular in the first-team, starting thirty-five times and being rewarded with a new two-year contract at the end of the season.
His last appearance for the club came in January 2008, and he was released from his contract by mutual consent at the end of the 2007/08 season.
He the moved to Aspire Midland Alliance side Barwell and has since had spells with Leicestershire Senior League side Thurnby Rangers, Stamford and then back with Thurnby.
