It may have been against the bottom side and against a debutant goalkeeper, but mid-table Basingstoke Town`s Mitchell Bryant takes the headlines in the Blue Square South on Saturday.
Bryant helped himself to a double hat trick as Basingstoke won 6-0 away at the Wessex Stadium.
The striker completed a first half hat trick of tap-ins as Basingstoke took advantage of some bad defending and wasteful finishing by the home side to lead 3-0 at the break.
Bryant added another three goals after the break before being taken off to applause from both sets of fans as Town strolled to a comfortable victory.
It was a dreadful day for Tim Sandercombe, who was making his bow in the Terras` goal after joining on Friday from Mansfield Town.
Leaders Newport County were held to a goalless draw by second-placed Chelmsford City at Melbourne Park, and third-placed Dover Athletic beat fellow play-off chasers Braintree Town 2-1 at Cressing Road.
Matt Game put the Essex side in front on the half-hour mark only for Adam Birchall to equalise within 3 minutes.
Ollie Schulz won it for the Whites with 11 minutes to go.
Staines Town are fourth after winning 2-0 at Hayes Lane against a Bromley side also harbouring top five hopes.
Ali Chaaban opened the scoring for the Swans after 19 minutes and Marc Charles-Smith made sure with a second on 76 minutes.
Only seven points separate Bromley in tenth with Dover in second.
Thurrock occupy the other play-off spot but they would have been disappointed with only managing a goalless draw at home to St Albans City.
Bath City, Woking and Eastleigh complete the tight top ten, but only Bath won on Saturday, winning 2-1 at York Road against Maidenhead United where a quickfire double from Kaid Mohamed and Darren Edwards just before half time eventually proved enough, although Kieran Knight did manage to pull one back for the Magpies in the 63rd minute.
Woking went down to a 3-2 defeat at St George`s Lane to Worcester City, who certainly were in need of the points at the opposite end of the table.
New loan signing Nathanial Pinney put the Cards in front after 10 minutes and Guiseppe Sole made it 2-0 with only 17 minutes gone.
Rob Elvins reduced the arrears on 33 minutes and then levelled after 67 minutes, with Alfie Carter grabbing the winner 16 minutes from time.
Second-bottom Weston-super-Mare earned a share of the spoils at home against Eastleigh, who twice led through Andy Forbes efforts on 50 and 70 minutes only to be pegged back each time by Ben Cleverley on the hour-mark and boss Andy Gurney 10 minutes from time.
A stoppage time equaliser from Andy Pearson earned third-bottom Lewes a vital point at Havant & Waterlooville, who had led through Gary MacDonald`s goal from the 33rd minute.
It was a similar story at Park View Road where Welling United led another struggler, Dorchester Town, through Lee Clarke`s 17th minute penalty until Matty Groves eventually cancelled that out with one of his own from twelve yards in injury-time.
Hampton & Richmond Borough grabbed a valuable three points from their trip to a Bishop`s Stortford side dropping like a stone.
Lee Hodges grabbed the only goal of the game with 20 minutes remaining.
