Alfreton Town go in search of a first away win in eight games in all competitions when they travel to Gloucester City in Blue Square North on Saturday.
The Reds are unbeaten in their last four league games and have drawn their last three with the same 1-1 scoreline, as a result of which they are still sixth in the table, on the fringes of the play-off places.
However, with eighteen games to go, Nicky Law’s side are going to need a total of around seventy-five to seventy-six points to be all but certain of being in the play-offs for the second year in succession.
And with thirty-seven points from twenty-four games so far, that means the Reds will need more than an average of two points per game from the remaining league matches.
However, manager Law (pictured) is remaining positive that his side will be in the mix at the end of the season.
He said: “It was disappointing not to pick up all six points from the games at Solihull and Vauxhall. We should have done, but didn’t. You can’t dwell on that though, you have just got to get on with it.
“We have now got to go and win as many games as we can to get those points on the table as soon as possible.
“It was a very good, positive performance against Eastwood.
“The only thing that was missing was the win. They were a big, strong side, we ground them down and played some good football and mixed our game up well.
“All we were lacking was the extra goal to get us in front. I thought we were the better team, and certainly finished the strongest.
“We have now got to take this level of performance on, because if we play like we did against Eastwood, we will definitely win more than we lose this season that is for sure.
“We know what the end target is for us, and we have just got to keep going and going.”
The game saw Liam Hearn on target for the third game in a row as he took his tally to 15 goals for the season and Law had praise for his highly rated striker.
He said: “His goals rate at the moment is phenomenal.”
Law also had praise for his son Josh who is growing in stature since being moved to right back. “He has settled into a position he is comfortable in and it is really pleasing to see him doing so well.”
Meanwhile, Mattie Burke has had his loan spell with league rivals Hyde United extended to February 20th.
Goalkeeper Lawrence Matthewson has joined UniBond League Division One South neighbours Belper Town on a dual registration.
