Lambs Strengthen Off-Field Activities
27 January 2010 17:30:00

Tamworth, currently enjoying a good run of form in the Blue Square Premier, are delighted to announce a ‘new recruit’ behind the scenes as the club looks to strengthen its activities away from the field of play.

Martin Warrillow, will be joining the club as Press Officer, as Dave Clayton who has been handling the role for over half a decade as part of a 20-plus year love of The Lambs has decided to take a step back due to work and family commitments.

“I will continue my involvement with the club on matchdays and also continue editing the programme, but when Martin came to us and offered his time during ‘normal working hours’ I could only see this as a big step forward for the club and a weight off my shoulders!” said Dave.

“He joins the officialdom of the club with the full backing of everyone at Tamworth and I know it will strengthen the way the club is able to promote itself within the printed and growing world of digital media, from now on.”

Martin has been involved in the local and national media for nearly 20 years and although he was a Kidderminster fan as a youngster, his time at the Tamworth Herald - between 1986 and 1990 under Sports Editor Sam Holliday - quickly converted him to the Lambs cause.

Martin moved to the Birmingham Post and Mail in 1992, but cut backs saw his and many others’ positions made redundant just before Christmas last year.

And while his new responsibilities at The Lamb will undoubtedly not be his only new role in 2010 as he embarks on a previously unexplored direction in his working life his experience, knowledge, wealth of contacts and enthusiasm can only be seen as a positive step for Tamworth FC.
