Families from Tamworth and surrounding areas are invited to come along to a Family Fun Day hosted by the town’s football club and South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT).
On Saturday, 31st October Tamworth will be playing host to Hayes & Yeading United.
Both teams were delighted to have won promotion to the Blue Square Premier at the end of last season, but it’s Tamworth, who are currently riding high in their new league.
Anybody coming to the Lambs’ ground on October 31st will be able to enjoy an assortment of family fun activities before the game, from face painting to balloon modeling and magic.
A range of other attractions include Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, who will be on hand for those who want to explore a fire engine, and a children’s penalty shoot out at half time with “Big Cig” from the Time to Quit stop smoking team.
As well as the fun activities, there will also professional advice and support available to anyone considering giving up smoking and information to take away explaining where people can get help if they want it.
Nick Lunn, Commercial Manager, of Tamworth Football Club, said: “Our supporters and the local community are really important to us at The Lambs, so we are really pleased to work with partners to improve their health and wellbeing. We hope people will come along to watch the game and enjoy the activities, and I hope that they also take advantage of the opportunity to find out a bit more about some of the issues around the harm caused by smoking, and the fantastic support that is available to help them at the same time.”
Chris Stanley, Tobacco Control Coordinator, South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust, added: "It’s great to be able to support Tamworth FC during this exciting time in their club’s history. For only £5 an adult and two children will be able to come to the match and join in the fun. We’ll be there with a few other partners to provide information and advice, and we expect to enjoy the day as much as the supporters do."
