Banim`s Back with Celtic
26 January 2010 12:18:00

Blue Square North club Stalybridge Celtic have re-signed much-travelled striker Jody Banim from UniBond League Division One North strugglers Salford City.

Born in Manchester, Banim, now 31, started out as a youngster with Manchester United and was a trainee at Old Trafford in 1995/96 season before being released and joining Trafford.

A brief trial at Altrincham followed but he moved on to Flixton in 1998. In 2001 he joined Radcliffe Borough where he made 125 appearances and scored a phenomenal ninety-seven goals, netting in fourteen successive matches in one spell.

In December 2003, his performances prompted a move for £20,000 to Shrewsbury Town who were in the Conference at that time.

After a total of seventeen games for the Shrews in their promotion season, he joined Accrington Stanley and Droylsden before arriving at Stalybridge Celtic in 2005.

He rejoined Radcliffe in March 2006 on loan before rejoining Stalybridge and then Droylsden, again, in August 2007 for their promotion into the Conference.

Last season at Droylsden he made forty-one appearances and scored ten times. From February to April 2004 he was on loan at Torquay United where he made eight appearances without scoring.

In May 2008 he joined Burton Albion but failed to establish himself as a regular at the Pirelli Stadium.

He returned to Altrincham on loan in January 2009 and then Droylsden shortly after that before having a brief spell in the USA with Real Marylan Monarchs.

He returned to England in August 2009 but make a return to Radcliffe a month later before moving to Salford City earlier this month.
