Friday`s Blue Square North Review...
01 January 2010 17:45:00

Only two games survived the bad weather in Blue Square North on New Year`s Day, but once again the `big` top of the table derby between Fleetwood Town and leaders Southport was one of them.

And Fleetwood almost managed total revenge for Boxing Day`s 5-0 defeat to the same opponents when winning 4-0 on their own Highbury pitch.

In front of a crowd of 2,541, Steve Connors gave the hosts` a 30th mknute lead that Nick Rogan doubled a couple of minutes after half time.

Sean Clancy made it virtually game over with number three on 66 minutes and Adam Warlow made sure with a fourth with 17 minutes to go.

The other game to get the go-ahead, somewhat surprisingly, was at the Corinium Stadium where tenants Gloucester City beat Redditch United 2-0 and move above their opponents in mid-table.

Lee Smith gave the Tigers an 11th minute lead that Mike Symons doubled on 56 minutes in front of 378 at Cirencester.
