Saturday`s Blue Square South Review...
16 January 2010 18:04:00

Six games survived the weather in Blue Square South on Saturday and it was a particularly good day for Chelmsford City and Dover Athletic.

Chelmsford came from a goal down to hammer bottom-markers Weymouth 4-1 at the Wessex Stadium, while Dover also hit four without reply at Crabble against Havant & Waterlooville.

Scott Brice gave the Terras a 30th minute lead, but that lasted barely 9 minutes as Ricky Holmes equalised.

Holmes went on to complete his hat trick with goals in the 69th and 86th minutes, with Rob Edmans making it 4-1 in injury-time.

Frannie Collin broke the deadlock at Crabble by putting Dover in front 5 minutes before the break.

Two minutes later he made it 2-0 and 9 minutes into the second half it was game over when Adam Birchall added number three.

Shaun Welford netted Dover`s fourth with 5 minutes remaining.

Thurrock moved level on points with fifth-placed Braintree Town after beating Bath City 3-1 at Ship Lane.

Kenny Clark put the Essex side ahead after 21 minutes and a Leon McKenzie penalty doubled that 3 minutes later.

Craig Pope made it 3-0 around the half-hour mark, with all City could muster in reply being a Kaid Mohamed spot-kick in stoppage time.

Lewes remain in the bottom three after going down to a 2-1 defeat at Staines Town.

Jean-Michel Sigere actually gave the Rooks a 24th minute lead they held until 7 minutes after half time when Yado Mambo equalised and then Howard Newton put the Swans in front less than a minute later – a lead they held on to.

Maidenhead United enjoyed an important 2-1 win at Hayes Lane against Bromley, thus knocking the home side`s play-off hopes.

All the goals came in the final 14 minutes, with Alex Wall putting the Magpies ahead on 76 minutes. Phil Ruggles equalised on 81 minutes, but Kieran Knight scored what proved to be the visitors` winner less than a minute later.

Worcester City were pushed close to the drop zone after going down to a 2-1 defeat at Woodside Park by Bishop`s Stortford.

Marc McGregor had City ahead 3 minutes into the second half. Charlie Sheringham levelled on 71 minutes and then Glen Southam win it for the Blues 4 minutes later.
