Midfielder Ashley Smith has re-signed for Maidenehad United from Blue Square South rivals Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Smith originally signed for United in the summer of 2006 and went onto make 125 appearances as an important member of the squad which won promotion via the playoffs from the Southern League and then consolidated their Blue Square South status.
Last summer Smith opted for a change of scenery by moving to the Beveree but has now decided to return to York Road in time for the Boxing Day game against St Albans City.
Maidenhead have taken the precaution of arranging a pitch inspection for 11 am on Boxing Day morning.
The weather has taken its toll on the pitch and although the ice and snow is beginning to melt as the temperature climbs, the rain and sleet that is forecast raises the spectre of a waterlogged pitch.
