Holders Stevanage Borough began their defence of the FA Trophy with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Blue Square Premier rivals Ebbsfleet United on Saturday.
Goals from Chris Beardsley and David Bridges ensured that Stevenage, who sit second in the table, easily progressed to the Second Round Proper at the expense of struggling Fleet.
In another all-Blue Square Premier tie Tamworth defeated Mansfield Town, thanks to strikes from Iyseden Christie and Bradley Pritchard.
Northwood, the last Ryman League Division One survivors in the FA Trophy, kept their hopes alive with a 1-1 draw in Saturday’s all-Ryman tie at Premier Division Carshalton Athletic.
Barry Stevens fired the hosts ahead after only 2 minutes but Northwood recovered from the early blow and Eugene Ofori earned them a replay in the 37th minute, forcing the ball home at the second attempt after his initial shot was blocked on the line.
At Blue Square Premier AFC Wimbledon, Leon Hunter pounced on a weak headed clearance by home keeper Seb Brown to give Ryman Premier Boreham Wood a shock 53rd minute lead which they held until the last 7 minutes. Then another former Grays Athletic forward, Danny Kedwell, got the equaliser and yet another, Luis Cumbers, broke Wood’s hearts with an injury-time winner.
Zamaretto Premier side Bashley bowed out after a brave defeat at the hands of Blue Square Premier Crawley Town.
It took only 3 minutes for the visitors to show their higher level class, when Sam Rents placed a shot into the top corner of the net from the edge of the area.
Crawley doubled their advantage after 16 minutes through Glenn Wilson, and it could have been three just seconds later as Charlie Ademeno was played in one on one with David Elm but the Bash keeper held his attempted chip.
After 20 minutes Bash got themselves back into the game through Charlie Knight. Lewis Kileen almost restored the two-goal lead immediately but Elm denied him with a good save.
After 63 minutes though Crawley seemed to have sealed the game when Ademeno cut in from the left and whipped a cross into the box that the unfortunate Gary Middleton could only turn past his own keeper as he desperately tried to clear.
But with 9 minutes left Bash got back into the game for a second time when a corner from Knight was headed goalwards by Castle and Joe Maxwell glanced it home from close range.
Bashley then forced a succession of corners but the visitors held on, despite a brave effort from the home side.
In an all-Blue Square North encounter at Croft Park, Ilkeston Town had the better of the early exchanges against Blyth Spartans, but it was the hosts who ran out 2-0 winners.
Stephen Turnbnull put the home side ahead after 22 minutes. His cross eluded his colleague Michael Tait, who attempted to steer the ball into the net, but also eluded Lowson in the Ilkeston goal who seemed to anticipate Tait making contact.
The Spartans increased their lead 5 minutes later when Tait powered home a header following a Turnbull corner.
Brian Dutton gave much-changed Blue Square North Harrogate Town the lead with only 10 minutes remaining at the International Staium against Blue Square Premier Gateshead.
However, Town's lead only lasted 4 minutes though as Steven Richardson took advantage of a moment of hesitation in the visitors` six-yard box to knock in after a header from James Curtis hit the bar.
Blue Square North side Workington recorded their second Trophy win in five days but had to rely on a late goal to dispose of plucky Zamaretto Premier opponents Nuneaton Town, who could consider themselves unlucky not to force a replay.
Gareth Arnison calmly slotted the ball past the advancing Darren Acton for his eleventh goal of the season to give the Reds a 13th minute lead.
But Nuneaton responded in style and were level after 27 minutes after being awarded a penalty. Home defender Lee Andrews tripped Chris Dillon and Rob Oddy thumped home the spot-kick.
Phil McLuckie emerged as the Reds’ hero scoring the winner 5 minutes from time in a tie that looked certain to end in stalemate.
Zamaretto Division One Midlands side Arlesey Town held Zamaretto Premier Chippenham Town to a 1-1 draw at Hitchin Road.
Chippenham seized the advantage on 24 minutes as James Martin brilliantly threaded a pass through the advancing defence and, as Sam Allison centred, home captain Derek Brown could only guide it into his own net from five yards out.
The lead lasted just 10 minutes as Craig Reynolds' left-footed corner caused confusion in the Bluebirds' defence and flew straight in.
Blue Square North rivals Southport and Gainsborough Trinity must replay after a 2-2 Haig Avenue draw.
Two early `goals` from Steve Daly and Chris Simm were ruled out for off-side, but the writing was on the wall for Southport as Phil Barnes remarkably threw the ball out of his area straight to the back of Daly rebounding to Simm who laid the ball off neatly for Zac Aley who swept the ball low beyond the stranded keeper into the net.
Trinity pulled level early in the second half as Ashley Burbeary's shot from the edge of the area went under the body of Lake and out for a corner, which was played short into Josh Davies who had time to pick out his spot from 25 yards before firing the ball into the top left corner of the
goal.
The home side persevered though, regaining the lead just before the hour-mark as Earl Davies laid the ball back to Simm, who picked out his spot at the bottom left corner of the net.
But with less than 5 minutes remaining Wes Parker fired low into the net, forcing a replay on Tuesday.
Blue Square South rivals Hampton & Richmond Borough and Lewes and Blue Square Premier duo Wrexham and Altrincham must also replay after respective goalless draws at the Beveree and at the Racecourse Ground.
