In one of very few `upsets` in Saturday`s FA Trophy First Round, UniBond League Premier Division Guiseley ousted Blue Square North Redditch United from the competition.
Danny Ellis scored the only goal of the game at Nethermoor just past the h0ur-mark.
Blue Squaare South side Worcester City caused a `shock` by ousting former winners Grays Athletic from the competition.
Rob Elvins and Alfie Carter scored either side of a freak Jake Meredith own goal in a first half City dominated.
Grays turned up the heat after the break but Richard Dryden's side weathered the storm and Craig Wilding added a third with bullet of a free kick in the 91st minute.
Another Blue Square Southy side beating opponents from a division higher were Trophy `experts` Woking, who beat Forest Green Rovers, thanks to a Nathaniel Pinney goal in the 15th minute.
Jack Midson scored the only goal of the game as Blue Square Premier leaders Oxford United edged out league rivals Hayes & Yeading United at the Kassam Stadium.
The striker headed home Simon Clist’s cross at the near post in the first half to put the home side in front.
Midson should have doubled his tally in the second half from the penalty spot, but his effort hit the woodwork.
Blue Square Premier high-flyers York City will have to replay their tie with Hinckley United after being held to a goalless draw by the Blue Square North outfit in Leicestershire.
The result ended York`s record eight-match winning run.
Another Blue Square Premier side, Kidderminster Harriers, avoided their potential banana skin at UniBond League Premier Division Matlock Town, winning late on 2-0 at Causeway Lane, courtesy of goals from Robbie Matthews after 74 minutes and a Chris McPhee penalty in stoppage time.
Another all-Blue Square Premier encounter saw Cambridge United triumph over a Luton Towwn side making their bow in the competition.
Danny Crow gave the U`s an early 6th minute lead that yoijng hot-property Chris Holroyd doubled on the half-hour mark.
Holroyd added a third 6 minutes later, and all the Hatters could muster was a Wayne Hatswell own goal after 68 minutes.
Substitute Ricky Modeste’s superb 70th minute solo goal earned Blue Square South side Chelmsford City a replay against Zamaretto League Premier Division Truro City, as the sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Melbourne Stadium.
The winger latched on to Rob Edmans' lay-off before dancing around the Truro defence and cooly side-footing past goalkeeper Martin Rice, as the visitors conceded a goal immediately after taking the lead for the second time in the match.
Earlier, an extraordinary opening to the game saw Andy Watkins give Truro a 2nd minute lead before Ricky Holmes equalised with a wonder strike just 30 seconds later.
Andy Taylor thought he had won the tie for Truro in the 67th minute, only for Modeste to seal a long trip to Cornwall for a replay, which will take place on Tuesday night.
Chelmsford were disappointing on the day and fortunate to take anything from the game.
Truro, who have seen their rapid rise through the non-League Pyramid checked this season, produced a committed display which belied their recent on-field troubles.
They got off to a dream start when Marcus Martin took advantage of static Chelmsford defending, squaring to striker Watkins who was left with a tap in from two yards.
However, the visitors were ahead for less than a minute as Holmes equalised for the hosts in spectacular fashion. The in-form forward cut inside before unleashing a stunning 25-yard dipping strike beyond the helpless Rice.
Chances continued to come thick and fast throughout an open and entertaining first half but neither Holmes nor striker partner Edmans were able to make the most of several presentable opportunities.
After a scrappy opening to the second-half it was Truro who came closest to taking the lead. Right midfielder Martin was left alone at the far post but saw his header rebound off the Chelmsford bar, with Watkins only able to direct the rebound wide.
The visitors' pressure finally told on 67 minutes when Taylor capitalised on more shamblolic Chelmsford defending to dip the ball over the advancing Chelmsford keeper Ashley Harrison, giving Truro a deserved lead.
But just 3 minutes later, Modeste levelled the scores with Chelmsford’s first meaningful attack of the second half.
Neither side was able to snatch a late winner, despite Truro’s Martin Watts being shown a late red card after bringing down Modeste for his second caution of the match.
Kettering Town's disappointing week came to an unsatisfactory end as they were knocked out of the Trophy by Blue Square Premier rivals Barrow.
Having exited the FA Cup at Leeds United on Tuesday and then suffered some off the field turmoil, the Poppies really needed a win to lift spirits.
But a solitary second half goal ensured their hope of any knockout success this season.
Patrick Noubissie gave the ball away in midfield and Barrow attacked on the right. Marc Goodfellow floated a cross in and found Jason Walker unmarked at the back post and he placed a header into the corner of the net.
Subsitute Jordan Bowery also found the back of the net with his head but the ball had already gone out of play before Goodfellow got his cross in.
Bowery should have wrapped it up when player-manager Lee Harper was caught upfield for a late corner. However, having slotted the ball passed the retreating keeper, Bowery saw his shot hacked off the line by Greg Taylor and Goodfellow smacked the follow up over the bar.
On the face of it, Blue Square South leaders Newport County`s 3-1 win at Zamaretto Premier table-toppers looks comfortable enough.
However, what the result itself hides is a rip-roaring cup tie full of incidents, including two dismissals.
Charlie Henry and Ashan Holgate gave the Exiles a 2-0 lead that Gary Holloway reduced with 9 minutes to go.
Newport`s nerves were not helped when Paul Bignot was sent-off in an incident that also saw Boro skipper Steve Robinson given his marching orders.
However, Craig Reid wrapped things up for County with a fine goal deep into stoppage time.
A superb free kick by Aaron O'Connor sent Blue Square Premier Rushden & Diamonds into Monday's draw.
It took 71 minutes to find a way through Ryman League Premier Division strugglers Billericay Town who nearly held out for a replay.
The only goal finally came as Lee Tomlin was fouled and O'Connor curled the 25-yard free kick over the wall to find the bottom corner.
Corby Town put their problems in the league to one side to move through to round two with a comfortable win over Blue Square North rivals Farsley Celtic.
While the Steelmen are struggling to win at home in the league, they had no such worries in this cup game as they largely controlled the tie from start to finish.
Aside of the odd sporadic moment, Farsley offered little in the attacking third in the first half, Roy Stamer's shot that Mark Osborn saved with his legs the closest they came.
However, it was 15 minutes before Corby registered a shot but they were soon regularly threatening the Farsley goal.
Leon Mettam, Steve Diggin and Joe Francis all saw efforts save before Diggin gave them the lead on 25 minutes with a lob Celtic keeper Piotr Skiba could only help into the net.
The home side doubled their lead on the stroke of half time when Leon Hibbert headed home from Paul Mayo's corner.
Another Blue Square North side through are Stalybridge Celtic, who comfortably won 3-0 at UniBond Premier Nantwich Town with goals from Matty Barlow after 31 minutes, Joe O`Neill on 70 and Keith Briggs 4 minutes later.
At the Wessex Stadium, Chris Flood’s injury time effort proved enough to send Blue Square Premier Salisbury City into the next round, but it was tough on crisis-torn Blue Square South neighbours Weymouth, who had seemingly done more than enough to earn a replay.
In a couple of all-Blue Square South encounters, Maidenhead United went through 2-1 at Bishop`s Stortford, thanks to goals from Sam Collins after 17 minutes and Kieran Knight on 68, with Lewis Smith reduceing the arrears 6 minutes from time.
And Dover Athletic won by the odd goal in five at Westleigh Park against Havant & Waterlooville.
Robbie Martin`s 23rd minute opener for the Hawks was cancelled out almost immediately by Nicky Southall and then Jon Wallis put the Whites in front 7 minutes before the break.
Manny Williams pulled the home side back on terms 9 minutes into the second half, but Shaun Welford won it for the Kent outfit on the hour-mark.
No such luck for another BSS outfit, Welling United, who were knocked out by Blue Square Premier Eastbourne Borough.
A 20th minute goal from Liam Enver-Marum was enough to send Boro into the next round.
